Monday Morning Musings

It’s coming ’round Christmas and I’m thinking a bit about Christmases past….and my hope for Christmases future, but not so much about the Christmas present.

Last night I ordered gifts from Heifer. (This is my 11th year of supporting Heifer and purchasing gifts for colleagues, family, and friends. I think Heifer is amazing. And now they have fun animated e-cards. It was fun buying gifts and sending gift cards!

This week will be a relatively quiet week for me. Or at least it seems that way – one never knows….

And I woke up with this song in my head. One of my favorite from high school days.

River by Joni Mitchell

It’s coming on Christmas
They’re cutting down trees
They’re putting up reindeer
And singing songs of joy and peace
Oh I wish I had a river I could skate away on …

Maybe sometime this winter we’ll go down to Millennium park and skate under the stars and twinkling lights…that would be fun!

Here’s hoping you have a joy-filled, not too busy week.

About Terri C Pilarski

I am an Episcopal priest serving a delightfully progressive, interesting, creative congregation. I have been married more than half my life to the same man. We have two grown children, plus two dogs and two cats, although the number of four legged household members changes from time to time. I love to garden, knit, read, and play on Facebook or with my blog. I have been a practitioner of daily meditation since I was nineteen. I practice yoga five days a week and walk every where I am able too.

Great minds…I did my heifer purchases last night as well. I had a hard time picking out my purchases. Blue Christmas service tomorrow and then Christmas Eve and on towards Sunday. And company on top of that. Cleaning??? what is cleaning???

  2. Terri says:

Purple – I know, those cats make such a mess (LOL) – if only we could employ them to clean the house and not just their tails and paws – hope your week is a good one!

  3. I know that song. Except I heard it in college, with the Indigo Girls covering it. Never knew that Joni Mitchell was the original songwriter (hangs head in ignorant shame).

  4. Terri says:

Wounded and Healing…were you even born in 1970?…I do you one better – I love Indigo Girls but didn't know they sing a version of this…must go look for it…

  5. it's on their "1200 curfews" cd. and sarah mclachlan sings it, too, on her "wintersong" album. gorgeous song!

  6. Terri says:

I know this year isn't the Christmas of dreams, but I hope that for you, and for me, there will be a gift beyond expectations that won't be under any tree. Blessings on your week, and your journey.

  8. Terri says:

Thanks, Altar Ego – for you and for me!
